  LIFE SETTLEMENT CLOSING

Upon receipt of disbursement instructions for a policy from the life settlement provider or investor, UWTC will initiate the following steps to ensure that the closing of the Life Settlement arrangement is secure and smooth for all parties.

  • Contact the insurance company to verify the status of the policy and the premium schedule. 
  • If the client desires, Confirm that the insurance company has properly executed ownership and beneficiary changes.
  • Examination of documentation on the insured to verify that all tracking information is present and updated, and that all appropriate releases have been signed and returned.
  • Disburse funds as instructed to all parties upon completion of due diligence for closing procedures.

We process all financial transactions, both domestic and international, while monitoring from start to finish to assure all steps of the closing are accurate and swift.

 

PREMIUM PAYMENT AND POLICY MAINTENANCE SERVICES

Close attention and diligent supervision are key to insuring the prosperity of a portfolio. With fluctuations in premiums and various insurance company changes, it is important to have a staff that is proficient in monitoring each individual policy schedule as well as skilled in rectifying any situations that may cause potential harm to the viability of a policy. United Western Trust will:

 

  • Change all addresses to reflect owner and/or payee. Contact insurance companies to obtain forms to change payee address.
  • Execute change of ownership and beneficiary paperwork.
  • Monitor the premium schedules to ensure the good standing of all policies.
  • Schedule and remit premiums by scheduling payments into our trust accounting system and generating checks monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual. All options are available to fit your needs.
  • Generate monthly premium reports showing dates, check numbers and amounts paid for each policy.
  • Review and sort all mail received and update trust system with current data. Record updates and file premium invoices.
  • Monitor insurance policies that are exercising a waiver of premium provision. Contact each insurance company; obtain medical update forms for continuing premium waiver; forward waiver forms to the insured; follow up with insured, and submit forms to insurance company upon receipt; record new information to track next required update form.

Tracking Services
Reliable, monthly tracking is important to ensure timely filing of death claims, as well as to secure the location of the insured needed for acquisition of the death certificate.
 
UWTC will enter all pertinent information for the Insured into our database for monthly tracking. Using multiple web-based search companies, we receive information on current addresses, phone numbers or proof of life.
 
A search is generated each month to determine if an individual is deceased.
 
Death Claims

The benefits of a Life Settlement investment are reaped through the timely processing of claims upon the death of the insured. It is essential to have a company that is familiar with the death claim procedures and requirements for each insurance company.

  • UWTC will establish contact with the insurance company for notification of death and ordering claim forms.
  • Contact appropriate state or local agency to obtain death certificate.
  • UWTC will also verify that the death certificate contains all information needed per the specifications of each insurance company.
  • Complete forms and send to insurance company for payment of death claim.
  • Deposit death claim proceeds and disburse funds per the direction of client.
